Curtain Call and Papertake Weekly

Hi, I made this card using Curtain-Call-Color-Challenge colors. The are red, white, blue and kraft. The challenge at Papertake Weekly is to use stitches. The stars and image are cut using A Child's Year Cricut cartridge. The ribbon is something I had. It was a quick and easy card and I love the way it turn out.
I have a few birthday cards to send out in July and I think this will work for that. I love the little image. It looks like it is blurry in the picture but that is because of the colors I think.

I am off to the grocery store and then I get to try some more challenges.
Have a great day!

ColourQ #39

I keep missing the deadline for the ColourQ Challenge. So I thought I would get right to it this week. The colors are Brovo Burgundy, Real Red, Brocade Blue, Night of Navy, and White.

I have been looking through the new SU catalog and feeling guilty, as my list gets longer and longer, that I am not using what I already have enough. So I took out two of my SU punches, a big wheel and came up with a way to use them in this challenge. Can you tell what punches I used?

The hot air balloon was made by taking the Very Vintage jumbo wheel, Brovo Burgundy ink on some Real Red and punched out with the Extra-Large Ornament punch. I added half of a Curly Label punch for the basket. Then I added some black cord. The sky was made using Brocade Blue CS in a CB EF called Vine Swirls. I rubbed it with white ink. The clouds were cut with my Cricut and the cartridge called Paper Pups. I don't know were I got the "hi there" stamp. The ribbon is from SU.

I wanted a light color on the inside because the base card is Brovo Burgundy. I even used my SU boarder punch for on this.

There now the guilt is gone. Well almost.
Now were did I put that new cataloge?

ColourQ and Unscripted Sketches

This is the card I made for ColorQ Challenge 38. I really had a hard time getting my head around these colors but I am happy with the way the card turned out. I guess that is why it is called a challenge, and what motivates me.

I used Unscripted Sketches 61 for the layout of this card. I love their sketches and it seems like a long time since I had time to get to one of their challenges. They are have a special Christmas in July celebration starting July 1. They have a lot of fun thing planned.

The colors this week at ColourQ are Riding Hood Red, Pumpkin Pie, Kiwi Kiss and Bordering Blue. I didn't have any Kiwi Kiss. So I googled the color and I found out it was the same as Gina K's Green Apple which I did have. The only Riding Hood Red I had was ribbon. I made the little flower by gathering the ribbon and putting it in the center of a Pumpkin Pie 5-Petal Flower, which was ran through the cuttlebug in the dotted swiss folder. I used CTMH Crandberry ink to distress the flower. It is the closest color I have to RH Red. I added buttons and little pearl to the center. The leaves are cut with a CB die. The stamp is an old SU set that I got at a yard sale. I think it is so sweet. I cut the semtimen out with Nestabilities Labels Four. The base card was embossed with CB folder called Birds and Swirls. I used a MS boarder punch to make a pretty insert.

Well this week SU comes out with their new cataloge. I think I should offer to clean houses or weed gardens to earn the extra money I am going to need. There are 16 colors I don't have and would love to have. That's just the paper. EEK!!!
What's on your wish list?

One of my favorite sites has a Challenge

My Creative Time with Emma has a weekly challenge called Throwback Thursday. I love this challenge because it is all about using older Cricut Cartridges. I have invested a lot in these cartridges because I love them and it is so nice to have someone encouraging me to use them. Thanks you Emma!
The challenge this week is to use Doodlecharms and make a two page layout. This cartridge has a years worth of images. I have a ton of school pictures to scrap. I got started with these picture of my very last class. I make one just about every year. I have pictures of student I had in first grade that are now 40. One came to my retirement party. Those pictures are yellow now. It is fun to make these scrapbooks but I am really behind.

For this page I used Doodlecharms and Mini Monograms (for the heading) Cricut Cartridges. The wheels have my new favorite product Viva Decor Pear Pens and Glitter Liner. I got them from Custom Crops and I love them. They came in the mail and I had to try them. They look like the pearl you peel and stick but it is in a tube. The only bad part is it has to dry. If you look you can see where I made an opps. I used Spica glitter pens to do the doodles. The DP is by Reminisce called Making the Grade First Grade.

The hardest part is taking the picture. I use my big clip and hung them on my planters outside to try and get them together. They will look better in the book.

If you haven't been to Emma's blog you check it out. She is wonderful.

A Cute Little Critter

It seems like forever since I could make a card for some fun challenges. I made the decision to buy the Create a Critter because of this little guy. When I was visiting my granddaughter her mom told me that groundhogs were going to me her favorite animal. I think it has to do with Mom and Dad spending a year in New Zealand the year before they got married. I think he is so cute.

I used the colors from Color Throwdown this week. They are Chocolate Chip, Blush Blossom, and Mellow Moss. When I looked at the samples everyone had beautiful flowers and very pretty cards, but I thought they were great colors for my little friend.
I used a Peachy Keen Everyday Character stamp for his face. I embossed the card and panel with a SU EF and a CG EF. The little flower is a sticker. That is the challenge at Pile it On. The sketch is CPS card sketch 172. The inside liner is punched with a Martha Stewart boarder punch. I used some SU chalk and a white jel pen. The thank you is a Raisin Boat stamp. I stamped it on paper punched with a SU punched called Curly Lable Punch. Another challenge this card fits is Caardvarks, which is stamp and embossing.
Let me know what you think. I loved making this little guy and if you don't have a Cricut or would just like some to put on cards I would be happy to make some for you.

My Parents

This card is one I made in a card class back in March. The ferris wheel reminds me of my Dad. He ran the ferris wheel on Steel Pier in Atlantic City where he met my Mom. So ferris wheels always make me think of the two of them and how much love they had for each other and their children. May 19 would have been their 66 wedding anniversary. This would have been the perfect card.
I love the little tickets we used as an embellishment. I was suppose to get a pdf file to print more but life got real busy after that class. The stamp is from Prickley Pear. They have some real neat stamps. I got another one that I haven't used yet but hope to soon.

Great Weekend

We had a great weekend in the North Woods. My DH and I took his parents up to our cabin, the one they enjoyed for over 30 year. John turned 94 today and Mary is 90. It was very had for them to walk from the car to the cabin, but they were determined. The one thing John has always loved was fishing. He is a master at it. Well fishing just was not in the cards for this weekend. A flooded boat, bad weather and planned dinner parties got in the way of fishing. John didn't mind. He really didn't have the energy needed to fish. We did get to get them on the lake thanks to help of a dear friend that made it happen. They really enjoyed themselves.

Another thing that made this a great weekend was that I was able to visit a wonderful Scrapbook store in Minocqua, Wisconsin called The Baker's Wife. If you ever get a chance to stop into the shop make sure you go up stairs and do one of Phillis's make and takes. This is a picture of the huge table where you will find four or five cards to make and it is only $1.00. Children are even welcome to make a card as long as a parent helps them. It is the cheepest entertainment up there. The shop has everything and is up to date on all the newest products. I am really looking forward to my next visit. Check out their blog for more information.

Thanks again for all your support and we hope to return very soon!!

I will keep you posted when SSDS is up and running. Save that card I know you made. LOL

Stamp Scrap and Doodle Satuday

It’s time for another Stamp Scrap and Doodle Challenge. This week we have a sketch for you to try. The sketch is by our own very talented Nicole. Our wonderful sponsor this week is Creations by Penny. The image I used is called Beach Umbrella and it is one of their digi stamps. The colors are from the ColourQ challenge #37. They are Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Apricot Appeal, Always Artichoke and Vanilla. I love the way they look together. Arielle really comes up with some great color combos. I am getting hooked on her challenges.
I had fun with the sketch and changed it up a bit. I just had to use my flip flop stamp from Raisin Boat again. The sentiment is also from RB. I thought they went great with this image.
I just can’t seem to stop playing with my Gypsy. The card is a beach card and I have the Life is a Beach cartridge. When I saw this little crab I had to use him. Then I saw the turtle with enjoy and I just couldn’t help myself. I added wiggle eyes and Crystal effect to make Mr. Crab pop. The sandals are stamped on sand paper. The bottom two layers are embossed with CB folders. I colored the image with copic markers.
I think that is everything. If you have any questions just leave them in the comments. I love to read your comments.

I am at the cabin again this weekend for my father-in-laws 94th birthday. We drove both of my DH’s parents up to celebrate. His mother is 90. They are getting frail but still love life and the great outdoors. We are hoping to get the birthday boy in the boat again this year so he can do some fishing. Last year he caught a huge musky. You can see the pictures here.

I hope you are having a great weekend and join us this week at SSDS. I love seeing all of your creations.

Father's Day Gifts

I spent the past week working on these two father's day gifts. One for my husband and one for my father- in-law. I designed them on my Gypsy and cut them out on my Cricut. I have been watching the videos over at Creations with Christian. She make the most lovely books and I just had to give it a try.

This first book is for my father-in-law. For this first book I used cereal boxes for the base cardboard and covered it with DW baby girl paper. I didn't keep track of what products I was using. Sorry, I could look it up if you really want to know.

This is a view of the inside. It looks like you can still read Cora when it is open but you can't. The pictures are from our trip to Montana.

This second book is for my husband even though he said he is not my father and I don't need to give him a gift. I think he needs this on his desk at work.

I brought home a big stack of cardboard from comsumable books thinking I would use it to make books and that is what I used for this second book. I think it is a little small for making books with the letters at the bottom.

I really enjoyed making these. I have some ideas for another one.
As you can tell both books are all about cute little Cora. I hope Granddad and Great Granddad like their gifts.

Changes to my blog and a fun card

I have sat in a chair all day and played on my computer. I had 85 emails because I missed a day getting the internet working. It was a great way to spend a rainy day.
We are still at the cabin. My hubby has been busy all day doing this and that. He is fishing right now in the rain out in the boat. That man does love to fish. The fish have not been cooperating with him so far this weekend.
I don't really have materials here to make cards so I have been working on my blog. Did you see I added a tab? It really is fun to make changes. I would love to learn more about the codes.
I remembered that I didn't show you this card. I really love this one. The flip flops are cut from Life is a beach. I used real sandpaper for the sand and punched it out with my SU punch. I hope I didn't wreck it. I used a CB folder to emboss the flip flops. and the little stamp on the sand is from Raisin Boat. The thank you is from Hero Arts.
This card was for a dear, sweet friend who loves her flip flops and purple.
Let me know what you think.

SSDS Saturday Challenge

Happy Saturday! I am at the cabin for four day . Day one no internet. Day two It took all day to get the internet up and running. Oh, and 6 calls to the phone company. It has rained all day. Day three (that is today) clouds and cold. Oh well, I have internet and it is time for another
Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle challenge. This week our wonderful sponsor Sweet and Sassy and the challenge is go make a card with a pocket. I made my favorite double fold pocket card. I used one of their images called Thank you Turtle. I think he is so sweet. The colors are from the Color Q challenge this week. I thought they would be great for this little turtle. The colors this week are Sage Shadow, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron and Chocolate Chip. I used SU card stock in those colors and I thought they looked the same as Copic colors G21, YR16, and Y21. So those are the colors I used to color the turtle. I made the design on the card stock with a Versamark Mark pad and a stamp from Raisin Boat Designs. This is the stamp set I got last month. I haven’t sent it back. The set is called called Peace and Smiles. His little buckle is from Making Memories. The bottom border is a boarder die from Nestabilities. The tags were cut with my Cricut and are stamped using a thank you stamp set from CTMH and Hero Arts. I used a little Crystal Glass from CTMH on the center of the flower.

Pocket cards are fun to make and there are so many different kinds out there to try. I hope you will join us this week at SSDS. I am looking forward to seeing all of your wonderful creations.
Have a great weekend.

This card works for Just Us Girls Challenge which is to use a digi image which is what my turtle is.

First Day as a Retired Teacher

I don't think it has really hit yet. It was so nice the past week getting rid of junk and all the wonderful things people were saying to me. Having the summer off feels the same. This is the first one I won't be taking a class for school. I am going to find classes on card making and blog design. I do feel a sense of ease.

I made this card a week ago as a thank you for a friend who loves shoes and purses. I used my Gypsy to create it. At the time I was making it for a red, white and blue challenge but that came and went. I welded the shoe so it is on the front and back. I was going to leave it like that but I couldn't get the Thank you to look right on it. Now if I win some of those Cri-Kits jel pens at Round the World with CRI-Kits Blog Hop..... at Scrappy-go-Lucky I could write Thanks You on the foot. I would love to win those pens but this is the best blog hop ever. You go to a different country each day. All the post are from people around the world. I feel like I am on a wonderful trip. And of course there are prizes. I used a gliter jel pen (by hand) for the sole and the stitching. I lined the inside and punched one end with a MS punch. I didn't take that picture of that or the card open so you could see the back but I really like this card so I will be making more and I will show you the rest next time.
Well, so far today I walked an hour, did two loads of wash, planted the deck planters, read my email, and posted this card. Now I have to clean, go to the store and make a card. Boy being retired is fun. I can get so much done. Tehee Tehee!
Have a great one!

Stamp Scrap Doodle Saturday

Hi It is Saturday and time for another Stamp Scarp and Doodle challenge. This week our sponsor is Glitz Designs and the prize is a paper pack. Their paper is so easy to work with. It cut great on the Cricut.
The challenge this week is to crate a handmade embellishment.

I decided to make a flower. The sketch is from Diva Coffee Break Design Sketch 179. The colors are from the Color Throwdown Challenge. The colors this week are Black, Pink Passion, Green Galore, and Tempting Turquoise. The bottom half of the card that is black paper with pink swirls is from Glitz Design. It matched perfectly with SU Pink Passion. I used Glitz and SU paper and punches to punched out the flower. Next I scrunched up the layers.
The sentiment is stamped on Tempting Turquoise and cut with a Nestibility die called Fancy Tags. The swirls behind the that are Rub Ons from Glitz. The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

I hope you will join us this week for this easy challenge. You all know how to make some embellishment even if it is to make your own bow. If you need some ideas and you haven't visited Glitz Designs they have videos here.
I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
I am off a graduation party.
Enjoy your Saturday!

A Graduation Gift Card and a bunch of Great Kids

Hi, I just had to leave a quick post to show you the neat gift cards I my the two wonderful High School Seniors that have been helping in my classroom this past semester. I got the idea from an episode over at Stamp TV.
I used kraft card stock and ran it through my cuttle bug and inked it. I cut the cap out on my Cricut and used a Jelly Roll pen to do the stitch marks.
Very Easy and the boys even said wow when they saw them.
They were the nice boys and so helpful. One was on the football team that won the State Championship this Fall. The children looked up to them like they were NFL stars. It was so cute.
The last picture is of them and the children holding their reading awards. I started a program 6 years ago in my class that I call Five A Day. Everyday each child goes home with 5 books to read. It has been very successful. My favorite thing is when I start hearing them tell each other they should read a book because it is really good. I am going to miss that. Anyway they recorded reading 9,800 books outside of school. Every year the number of books read has grown. I am so proud of all the children and their parents hard work.
Tomorrow is my last day. Wish me luck. I hope I don't start crying I won't be able to stop.

Thank You Card

I spent some time looking for challenges but I ended up just making cards I wanted and needed. Boy was that fun. I hope someone stops by to see them. I made thank you cards. I have so many people to thank for all the wonderful well wishes on my retirement.
This card was inspired by a card designed by Bobbi Lemanski at Raisin Boat. I think you can see it here. (If I linked it correctly) The waves and fish stamp are from the set I just got in the mail. It is called Goes with Summerset Beach. I really like this set. It has all kinds of summer and beach stamps. The waves and the sun I cut with my Cricut. They are from the Life is a Beach cartridge. I doodled around the sun and edges of the card with a yellow glitter pen. It really sparkles but you can't see that. I want to take a class on taking pictures for my blog. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks for stopping, and if you have time please leave a comment and let me know what you think.
