Going Buggy Challenge

Going Buggy is one of my favorite blogs.  Enfys is a very talented crafter and I love to read her blog. She have the funniest stories.
Right now she has a color challenge on her blog here.  It is a color challenge and the colors are Gray, White and Red.
I used SU Basic Gray for the base. I embossed some vellum with a SU folder. The bird is a SU punch and Cherry Cobbler. Then I added some of my new beads. I think of silver as a shiny gray.
The liner was punched with a MS boarder punch called Woodland Branches!
I am off to enter my card in her challenge. You have until February 5th to join in the fun.

Thanks for stopping,

LESSology Challenge #10

It's time for Challenge #10 at LESSology. I am so excited. I l-o-v-e making flowers thanks to Sa Crafter and Julie Waters. They are the most amazing flowers makers.
AND

We have a wonderful sponsor this week.

Blog - http://blog.vintagestreetmarket.com/

Prize: Prize Pack of Vintage Street Market Goodies

The hardest part for me was picking which flower I wanted to make for this challenge. In the spirit of LESSology I decide to make my flowers from egg cartons.

First I cut apart the cells and trimmed them down.  I made one petal that I liked and traced around it on the inside of the cell. Then I cut it out.

Next I mixed Ceramcoat Pearl Finish Acrylic Paint and re-inkers to get the color that I wanted. I painted both sides and let them dry. Then I layered the flowers with hot glue and added a vintage button for a final touch.

And here you have my fun funky flowers.

I used my flowers on my receipt journal to keep track of what I sell and what I spend on my crafts.

Here is the video on how I made my flowers.

Now head over to LESSology and show us your flower power. I can't wait to see how your flowers bloom.

Mini Album Scraps

I am in a swap over at Mini Album Scraps. My mini is 4.25 by 5.5 inches. You need to have at least 50 pages and four sections. The colors were Neutral and my partner, Leah, picked pink for the accent color.

I went through my paper and just pull so I can't tell you the paper lines I used. Sorry.
Here are the stamp sets I used:

Cloud 9 Design Simple Thoughts - Laughter
SU Favorite Thoughts
Tim Holtz Artful Things
My Creative Time Encouraging Quotes
Close to My Heart Playful Flourishes, State of Mind, Aspiration

Here is the finished book.

I learned a couple of things making this. First that you can use old plastic paper holders to die cut and ink for pages.
I got the ones in my book from an old Creative Memories 12X12 paper holder. It was falling apart so I took it apart and used it. The clock on the front of the book, the bingo page and the Admit one page came from this.

Another thing I learned was that if you take your heat tool to clear contact it seals to embossed paper pretty good. Not perfect but pretty good.

Here is a video of what is inside the Mini I made for Leah.
I would love to hear what you think about my mini.

Sympathy Cards

Hi Everyone,
I needed to make a sympathy card for a friend who's husband past away. It was so sudden. He was away on a vacation with some friends. He had Parkinson's Disease but they are not sure what happened.  My heart really goes out to her. He was the sweetest man. He was in my water Yoga class.

These are the hardest cards for me to make. First because of the obvious that someone has past away. Second because you want to say so much with so few words and art.

I made two.
Here is the fist card.

This is the outside.
This is the inside.

Sorry the pictures are not too good. I am still working on my lighting.

The sentiment says, "Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pour through and shines down to let us know they are happy." I love that thought. I know I feel the love of my parents around me often.

I inked the gate and sentiment with TH broken china. The paper is from my scraps so I don't know who it is by. I added some AMUSE stars. The base card is SU sky blue I think.

Here is the second card. I made this one because I had the set out.
Front of the card

Inside of the card

The sentiment on the from of this one says, "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves memory no one can steal.  Irish Tombstone" The  stamps are from a set by Impression Obsession. This is the set I go to when I make a sympathy card because I love the sentiment.

I sprayed the gate on this one with some Lindy's products. The gates are from a Cricut cartridge called Ornamental Iron

No challenges for these two. I do think I need to make a few more Sympathy cards. Maybe if I make them when I don't have to it won't be so hard.

Christmas Card Challenge #7 and #6.

Well I am already behind on my Christmas cards. LOL It is week #7 over at Weekly Christmas Card Challenge and I didn't get #6 posted yet.
This week, #7, the challenge is Flourishes. My dear friend Kate gave me this fun paper and it did all the work for this card.
I just cut it to 4 X 5.25 put it on a pink base. then I went over all the flourishes with stickles and stamped Merry Christmas on the inside. It is very pretty in real life. I think I went a little to white with my white balance today.
Now challenge #6 was Lace. So here is the card I made with lace.
I had the wreath colored. I cut it out and used an X-ACTO knife to cut the inside. The lace is something I had from my St Vinnie's haul. The sentiment I found in my stash so I am not sure if I even own that stamp but I really like it. LOL. Both cards are lined but I forgot to  take a picture of that. The bow and berries have red stickles and sparkle.

This is a great challenge. I may even start addressing the envelopes. LOL I will be so ready when December come around. You know, the years just keep going faster and faster.

Over the weekend I got to play with some images for a challenge over at The Crafter's Cafe. This image is by Robyn's Fetish. The challenge is a Valentine's Day Card Recipe Challenge

The recipe is
1.  You may use ANY ROBYN'S FETISH VALENTINE IMAGE which Susan will send to you as a   FREEBIE.
2.  Your card must include these items:
      a.  1 ribbon
      b.  2 papers - these can include patterned paper, an embossed card stock ( like we make with an EMBOSSING FOLDER), and plain card stock, as long as there are at least 2 papers on the card.
      c.  The colors RED and WHITE in some way.  They can be in the image, the papers, the ribbon or the sentiment.  Additional colors are optional.
      d.  A VALENTINE SENTIMENT on the front of the card  - made by a stamp, hand written or computer generated.
      e.  3 HEARTS - they can be in the image, brads, on the ribbon, handmade, die cuts, on the paper, on the sentiment etc. but there must be 3 hearts somewhere on the card front.
       f.  All entries are due by FEBRUARY 10, 2012

 So here is my card.

I colored this little cutie with Copic markers and I paper pieced the dress and heart. The flowers and bow are added. The flowers are from I AM Roses. The a white base is 4.25 X 5.5. Then a 4 X 5.25 red layer.  Next is a white piece that is 3.75 X 5 and the 5" side is punched with a MS punch. Then the image is backed with more read paper. The sentiment is on layer two and is from SP and Company. The little hearts are puffy stickers. The big heart has icicle stickles.  Her bows, shoes,  cuffs, and collar are red and sparkly with stickles but that doesn't show in the photo.

Why not check out the challenge. Susan will send you a free image and there is a prize!!!

I hope you are having a crafty day!

Hi Everyone, I got to spend a quick hour with my sweet little granddaughter before she went back to MT. We all met at her Great Grandparents house before she had to go to the airport with Mom and Dad.
Ok, so I was fooling around with PSE and I put these pictures together. I have NO idea how to do what I did but it was fun. I tried to print it out and that was a mess. The colors are all real strange. I guess I need to check some settings somewhere. I only have two packs of digital paper that I bought to do my blog headers. So the background and embellishments could be better. Oh so much to learn and so few hours in a day.
Here is my creations.
In the last picture we are reading a photo book with pictures of her and the family. She is telling me the names of everyone. Oh I wish we lived closer.

It would be fun to do a photo journal for 2012 but I am afraid I wouldn't have many good pictures without this little sweetheart around. The pictures would all be of Max or my cards and creations.  Not to interesting until summer comes but I might give it a try.

 Happy Saturday!
Wow it seems like a long time since we had a challenge at SSDS. It has been a long busy two weeks.
Our challenge this week is "Winter Something." Our sponsor is Gingerloft Digi Stamps
Here is my card using Frosty's Snowglobe
I made a thank you card. The image is backed with some black card stock to create an outline. The trim is that garland you can get for tiny trees. It has snowflakes and snowballs. I added a snowflake brad to the top left hand corner to make it nice and snowy.
Speaking of snow, you should see it here in WI. I can't remember a winter like this. It is January 7th and we still have not had to shovel. Yesterday it was 50 degrees. AMAZING! And I must say I am loving it.

Important News!!!!!!!
SSDS is also having a DT call!
If you love working with digital stamp, have a blog and love to encourage others you should check it out.
I hope you do and that you will join our challenge this week.

Have a wonderful weekend!
