90th Birthday

Hi Everyone,
I didn't get much done this weekend. One card that is all. I was on the phone most of the morning Satuday trying to order a treadmill which didn't happen. Long story but I think it means I shouldn't buy one. Then I got a call from my credit card company saying that someone used my card overseas and on PayPal. That took over an hour of phone calls to get settled. Now I have to wait for a new card and number. Then after cleaning and laundry we went to a wine release and tour. We tasted about 5 very small cup of wines. I think I may have gone too fast from station to station. Remember my morning. Then we went out for pizza. Our favorite pizza place closed and just reopened. It is called Pizza Plaza and it is run by the nicest man who makes the best pizza. Well after the wine tasting and a beer with the pizza I was in no shape to make cards. I still wasn't feeling to peppy today. I am a cheep date.
I made this card for my dear mother in law. She will be 90 on February 8th. Her favorite flowers are daises and her favorite color is yellow. I used Unscripted Sketches #40 and The Pink Stampers Challenge to use a favorite color and black. Robyn at The Pink Stamper had challenges all weekend. The card also fits a card to give away. The Happy Birthday stamp is by Nina Brackett from a set called Heartily Yours Additions. I embossed it with Zing EP Mustard. The yellow paper is for Sassafras called Wee Bundle. The black CS is from Gina K Designs. The flowers, ribbon and pearls are stuff I had in a basket. I did some black stitching with a gel pen. My Hubby really liked it so I think she will too.
This is all I did this weekend. Not very productive in the area of cards. I hope I get something done during the week but that doesn't happen very often.

A Box Set

Just a quick post. This is a set of cards and a box to hold them that I made for a challenge at Stamp TV. I didn't win the challenge but I really love how this set turned out. Now I have a nice gift. I have been trying to think of something to give away when I have my blog aniversery maybe it will be a card set like this. Is that a good prize? I just don't know. I have a month or two to think about it. If you have any suggestions let me know.
I used the cranberry tart and and sweet corn card stock from Gina K Designs to make the cards and box. The pattern paper is by Graphic 45. The ribbon is from the last STV kit. I colored the image with Copic markers Y21, R39, YG03.

Card Patterns A Challenge

Friday evening I was looking at all the challenges to see which one I would like to work on this weekend. I always like to do the Unscripted challenge. I knew it was going to be a crummy weekend so I was looking for another one. I clicked on Card Patterns and there I saw Sarah's pretty smiling face. She is the guest designer for this weeks challenge. Sarah is so sweet and always leaves me the nicest comments. She is a very talented lady. You need to see the card she did for this challenge and one for a friend who turned 5o. They are outstanding!
Well, I just had to join in and try her sketch. The image on this card is from Penny Black. I love her little critters. I colored it with Copic markers and I used CTMH liquid glass to shine up the heart puzzle. It doesn't show up but it really is shinny. The circle I cut with my Cricut. The ribbon is some I had. I tied a bunch of ends so it would match the hedgehogs hair. I also distressed all the edges with a CTMH distresser. I had this little tool for a while and just used it for the first time. It really works great.
I think this is a cute little card. What do you think?

Three Challenges in One

This card works for three challenges. The sketch is from Unscripted Sketches #39. Stamp Simple challenge #123 is Very Vintage. The image was sent to me by a friend I distressed the edges with a CTMH distressing tool. The colors are for Color Throwdown. I used SU So Saffron for the base. I embossed it with CB Dotted Swiss folder. I layered the image on Melon Mambo and Old Olive which I think really helped the colors in the image pop. The stamp and ribbon are both Melon Mambo from SU.
I love the little cupid. I think the next time I use this image I will use an oval instead of a rectangle to make it look more like a cameo. That would be a little more vintage.

A Valentine for a boy

This is the last of the cards I made over the weekend. I think this is my favorite.

I used Taylored Expressions Sketch . The stamp set is Nina Bracketts’s set called Heartily Yours. The inside sentiment is from Hero Arts. The background paper is Basic Gray June Bug. I love this paper. I cut the scallop backgrounds using my Gypsy and Cricut. The tires are large fancy brads I had. The little screw brads on the bottom left are from Gina K designs.
I think it will be a great Valentine for one of my sons.

Unscripted #38

I love Unscripted. The ladies there are so nice. I just love to play along with their challenges. This is the card I made using this weeks sketch. The stamp set is Nina Brackett’s Heartily Yours. I embossed it using Stampendous Jeweled Gold embossing powder and colored it with Copic Markers. The heart brads are from Creative Impressions. The ribbon is something I had. The embossed card stock is from SU with a CB folder. I cut the rectangle scallop backgrounds using my Gypsy and Cricut and SU Melon Mambo. I still love to watch a Lava Lamp. How about you?

Card Positioning System A Valentine

Wow, it has been a whole week since my last post. I hope you haven't given up on me. I spent last evening and today making cards to post this week. It felt so good to sit and play. It just takes me so long to come up with the idea, make the card and write it all up, but I really do enjoy doing it. I especially enjoy hearing what you think of my work.
I made this card following the Card Positioning System sketch. The stamp is by Nina Brackett called Heartily Yours. I colored the stamp with Copic Markers. Then I sprayed Pure Luxury card stock with Copic Colorless Blender and stamped the image. I cut the hearts with Gypsy Wondering. That is the cartridge that comes on the Gypsy. It has many wonderful images. I was able to do the layers on the Gypsy and cut the image just the way I wanted on my Cricut. The background paper is from a pack by Making Memories. I used my Cuttlebug to emboss Coredinations card stock. Then I sanded it. The heart brads are from Creative Impressions. The gold wire is beading wire. This card took me a long time just deciding what and how, but I love the way it turned out.

A Valentine

Today I made a Valentine's card for the Unscripted Sketches challenge. The cupid was cut with my Cricut from the Sweetheart cartridge. The printed paper is from Cosmos Cricut. I think it is so cute. The colors don't show up as pretty as they really are. The heart brads are from Queen & Company. The base and cupid is pure luxury ivory card stock from Stamp TV. The pattern paper is layered on SU Taken with Teal. I like the one in the front. I made the cupid and circles bigger.

On Saturday hubby and I went to Cabela's. We go every year for his birthday. This year we went to the one in Cedarburg WI. It was amazing. There is an aquarium like one you would see in a museum. I took this picture of us with my timer but it turned out like I as playing Alfred Hitchcock and making a cameo appearance.
Then we stayed at a lovely B&B called the Stagecoach Inn. We went in to a lot of little shops and had a great time.

Hubby's Birthday Card

My Hubby’s birthday is next week and I have been working on his card. Thank goodness for the 2 hr. delay today. The first picture is of me after I went out an snow blowed the driveway at 4:45 a.m.


I am very happy with the way this card turned out. I used Mojo Monday’s sketch. My hubby lives to fish. When I see fish paper I buy it. The base card is ivory Pure Luxury card stock from Gina K Designs. The fish paper is by LaRayne Miller and Keeping Memories Alive called Fishy Situation. I stamped the trout on this cool wood. It is real wood and a lot of fun to work with. I got it at one of my favorite scrapbook stores call Memory Bank in Baraboo, WI. The owner is going to CHA to demo this product for Making Memories. I used a CTMH stamp set called Catch of the Day. The feathers for the gig are from my hubby’s stash. I hope he doesn’t miss it. The screw brads are from Gina K Designs. and the ribbon with the foot steeps on it is something I had. The paper I used behind the fish paper and the for all of the scallops is really cool but I am sure you can’t see it. It has this shine, almost a glitter, to it. I don’t know what it is called. I got it when I go the wood to stamp on. The paper that looks like bubbles is ivory card stock that I ran through the CB after I inked the folder with SU Bordering Blue. The inside “Happy Birthday to you!” is stamped with a SU stamp and the line is from the CTMH set Catch of the day.
I think this is really a manly card. What do you think?

A Gift for a Friend

One of my favorite sights is My Pink Stamper. Her real name is Robyn and she is so funny. She does lots of Cricut videos that are so helpful. She also has live feeds. This past week her best friend came to visit and they must have had the best time. You can tell by watching the video here. She is fun to watch even if you don't craft. This weekend they had a challenge to make a craft for a friend. So I made this set of card for my friend Melissa. We use to teach and ride to school together but then she moved. I really miss my rides and our long talks about everything. She is young enough to be my daughter and boy do I wish she was or that my sons would find someone so sweet. Like Robyn she loves pink. So the card set is pink. The set has six cards. Two are birthday, two friendship and two thank you. The stamp set is Holiday Cheer from Stamp TV. I made set following a video and challenge from a while back at Stamp TV. I packaged it in a clear box and tied it with a pink bow.

A Celebration for Melanie!

This rose is for Melanie. The sentiment says, "We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses." -Abraham Lincoln- I love that saying. It really is all about how we chose to look at things. I forget to often to rejoice in the good and focus on the thorns. That is why I love this stamp set. Just this one sentiment means so much to me.

Chocolate Lovers

Chocolate is something I was never interested in until I had children. For some reason pregnancy gave a whole new meaning and understanding of the joy of chocolate. I think that is where the weight comes from that you can't loose after children. Yesterday I even tried a chocolate wine. I know that sounds disgusting but believe me it is sooooo good, it could be lethal.
So that is the motivation behind this card.
I made this card using Stamp TV's sketch challenge. The words are from a stamp set by Melanie Muenchinger called The Best Things in Life. The cheesecake is from Rupa Shevde's set called 100% Sweet. I used a Martha Stewart Punch for the border, CTMH Chocolate Shades Collections Mini Medley for bling, and Copic Markers to color the cheese cake.
