Slide show of the cards from last week

Madison Mingle was the best! I spent the weekend making cards, meeting new friends and leaning so much about card making. Here is a slide show of some of the cards I made last weekend. I loved everyone but I really think my favorite is the bumble bee card. I even learned how to make the home made flower soft used on the bumble bee card.
If you see a card that you would like to make just leave me a comment and I will let you know the directions for making it.

Stamp Scrap Doodle Saturday

The challenge this week at SSDS is to create something girly. This is another card I made using my Gypsy and welding two tags to make a card. I love this card base. I learned how to do it at My Pink Stamper. The stamps are two Magnolia stamps that I colored with Copic markers. The card stock is all by SU.
Our sponsor this week is Sweet Pea Stamps. You can win this sheet of beautiful stamps. So pull out all the girly paper, glitter, and stamps you have and join us over at SSDS this week.

Thanks for stopping,

And the Winner Is!

It is finally time to give away my blog candy. It seems like a long time.
The other first grade teach that I work with has a timer with a random number generator so we used it to pick the winner. So here is the picture of the random number. Number four was Dawn from Dawn's Craft Place
Dawn said: "Congratulations on the Anniversary! I understand the reluctance about retiring...it is such a part of you. I bet you can find somewhere in your area to teach crafting classes. Even a retirement home or a youth group. It will keep you busy and active and share your skills. The candy looks yummy so I will post on my blog. You know I am a follower already."
Dawn was so right when she said that teaching is such a part of me. It is going to be very hard to give up that identity.
Congratulations Dawn! Contact me with your address and I will get your gift in the mail.
A big "Thank you" to all of you for your wonderful comments, warm wishes, and encouraging words. I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed this past three weeks reading you comments, meet all of my new followers, and finding so many new wonderful places to visit.

I am a win and this is a Busy Week!

Hi, I just found out that I won Stef's blog candy. This is the first time I won blog candy. Stef had her candy up for one day. That was the fastest candy ever. If you haven't been to the Glitterbabe's blog you are really missing something good. She is so funny and always has wonderful ideas and information. Stef is so helpful. When I first started my blog she helped me so much. I must have emailed her twice a week with questions and she always would answer with good advice.
This is turning into a very busy week for me. No time to make any cards. I am getting ready for this weekend. I am going to my first Madison Mingle. It is suppose to be a weekend of card making and fun. I have prepared materials for 40 people to make one of my cards. I should come home with 40 different projects if I get to all of them. It is going to be a busy weekend too.
Saturday I will be posting the winner of my blog candy and my card for this weeks Stamp, Scrap and Doodle Challenge. It's a good challenge this week, so be sure to stop back.

Easy Breezy "Kewl" Colour Challenge

Last week I watched Robyn at My Pink Stamper use her Gypsy to make a card by welding two tags together. What a great idea! Well I am hooked on this card shape. I made this card for Easy Breezy "Kewl" Colour Challenge. The colors are Kraft, Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo and Basic Black. The stamp is from CTMH called Enjoy Every Moment. The card stock I used was from SU. I used Pixie Pink because I didn't have Pink Pirouette but the rest were the colors for this challenge. There are four layers on this card. I edged the top two with a black marker. The base is Kraft card stock. The image was colored with Copic markers and I added glitter with Spica pens. You really can't see the glitter but it is there. I made three more cards with this shape but you will have to wait to see them.
Thanks for stopping,

Here is Cora

I would like you all to meet my granddaughter Cora. Isn't she the cutest little girl you ever saw. She thinks I am pretty funny. Her Great Grandpa is holding her and I am telling her a funny story.

Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturday

Yea, it is Saturday!!
That means it is time for a Stamp Scrap Doodle Saturday Challenge. Our sponsor this week is Sew Many Cards and you could win 5 images of your choice. Angela Doescher at Sew Many Cards has many wonderful images. I got an email on Monday about a huge sale going on. So hop over and get in on all the wonderful deals.

Our challenge this week is to use buttons, bows, bling and anything else you would like to use. I decided to cover a small notebook. I use one of these all the time. I write down the titles of books I have read. This way I don’t check them out a second time and I have a good book list to recommend to a friend. We use Netflix for movies. I don’t know how many times we start a movie and say, " we saw this.” So this little notebook is going to sit by the computer were we order the movies. Now we just need to remember to write down what we ordered. LOL
I used the colors for Colour Q 28 challenge, Ruby Red, Regal Rose, Pumpkin Pie, Bermuda Bay and white. The card stock is all SU. The image is from Sew Many Cards and I colored it with Copic markers. The ribbon is from SU and the buttons and fibers are from my stash. The "Notes" is a stamp from Stamp TV. I used a SU punch for the little shapes and doodled around the edges.
I sure hope you join us over at SSDS this week. It was so much fun looking at all the wonderful cards and projects last week we had over 100 people join in our challenge.

Have a great Saturday!
Thanks for stopping,

One-Layer Wednesday

Hi, Thanks for stopping.
Susan at Simplicity. Is starting a new challenge called One-Layer Wednesday. Isn't that a great idea? If you work 40+ hours a week like I do you need some challenges that are quick and one layer cards. Well that is after you get the idea, go through all your stamps, paper and know what just what you want to say. LOL! NO I love clean and simple cards. These are the best cards to send to the soldiers for them to send home.
I used CTMH stamps set called Enjoy Every Moment for the white card. The pink card which is much prettier in person is stamped on SU card stock. The stamp is a two step Pretty Peony and the sentiment is from SU Define Your Life.

Well I am off to meet my granddaughter for the first time. I am so excited.

Thank you so much for spreading the word about my blog. I have almost 100 comments on my blog celebration and I have hit over 100 followers. I am so happy about that. If this is your first time here you still have a week to sign up. Just go here.

Unscripted and Stamp Something

Wow I am so excited I have 100 + followers. You are all wonderful. I have enjoyed reading all the comments and emails. There is still one more week to go. So if you haven't left a comment you still have time. I have a random number picker at school so I will but the number of comments in and have it pick a number for me.
This weekend I was busy. I only got one card made. I used Unscripted Sketches #50. I will be needing graduation cards so I used this cute image I got from Angela Doescher at Sew Many Cards. I colored him with Copic Markers. Then I did something I said I would never do. I got out my sewing machine and sewed on my card. It was really fun. I did it messy on purpose. LOL. It has been a LONG time since I had the sewing machine out. It was fun playing around with it. I have wanted to try this technique for some time. I need more practice and more thread. I don't know what happened to all of my thread. The challenge at Stamp Something is to Stitch Something so I thought now or never. The sentiment is from SU and is heat embossed with white EP.
Well I hope you like my card and keep telling friends about my blog candy.

Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturday

Happy Saturday! You know what that means, it is time for another SSDS challenge. Our challenge this week is to make a birthday card and our sponsor is Glitz Design. They are offering a wonderful paper pack for the prize this week. My card is made with paper, rub ons and bling all from Glitz Design. This card is called a Double Diagonal Pocket card and made with one piece of paper. You can watch how to make it here. I cut a 12x12 to 8 1/2 X 11 and folded it. Some paper does not work but Glitz was fantastic. It is heavy but folds without tearing. This is a two sided paper. I cut out the sentiment that is on the inside with a Cricut Solutions Cartridge called Sans Serif. There are tags in the pockets. One is stamped with a CTMH stamp and the other one has a gift card on it. The flowers were white and I colored them with Copic markers to match the paper. I love the word "smile" in rhinestones, which is from Glitz Design. Someone asked if the rhinestones came in a strip and I bent them into that shape. I guess you could do that but this was a lot easier.

We had a fantastic turn out last week for our challenge and the cards were wonderful. I sure hope you will join us at SSDS this week. You always need an extra birthday card and you may just win a paper pack from Glitz Design.

This card also works for:
Meljen's Designs Challenge #2 - girly colors
For Fun Challenge - April Showers bring May Flowers
Simple Doodles - Inspire Others
Crafty Creations - Anything Goes

If you haven't become a follower or signed up for my celebration go here and sign up. You could win a punch and a stamp set. I am getting close to 100 follower and that means another stamp set will be given away. Good Luck and....

I Am Celebrating

This month is my one year Blog-anniversary! Boy has this year gone by fast. For a person who hates to write and is mildly dyslexic I haven't done too bad. I am committed to continue making cards and writing about them. I know this is good for my brain.
I am also celebrating my retirement. I will be retiring at the end of the school year after 30 years of teaching. I sure hope I am doing the right thing. I know I will miss my little friends. The drive is getting to me and the retirement package is still intact so I am going for it. Now for the future, I hope to learn more about card making and maybe even teach others about the wonderful world of card making.

With that said I am offering some candy. I only wish I had more candy to give away to show how much I appreciate all of you. If you are interested in my blog candy I need you to do three things:
1.) Please leave a comment telling me what you do or would do if you were retired.
2.) Become a follower
3.) If you have a blog I would appreciate it if you would post a link to my blog. This will help get to 100 followers.
When I get 100 followers I will have a drawing for one more stamp sets. The first drawing will be on April 24Th. The candy is a Stampin Up Scallop Trim Border Punch, and the Good Neighbors Stamp set from the SU Celebrations Catalog. The second drawing will be when I reach 100 followers and the candy will be the Whimsical Words Clear Mount Stamp Set also from SU Celebrations Catalog. All of your names will be in both drawings. How does that sound? Please get the word out.

Thanks for stopping and good luck!
Hugs,

I am one of the top 3 at Unscripted!

Unscripted is one year old and they are having a treasure hunt through the DT’s blogs. It is really fun. I gave it a try but I am not sure I got them all right. The best part is you see so many wonderful cards by some of the best card makers.
I am so excited. My card was picked as one of the top three cards last week at Unscripted. It is the card that is here. I really love that blog. The DT are the nicest ladies and they leave the sweetest comments. This week is sketch #49. If you get stuck and need a great sketch to get started go check them out.
This is my card for this weeks challenge. The paper is from Cosmo Cricket called Silly Sam. I think I am addicted to CC. I have a LOT of their paper and I save it because it is so cute. I just had to break it out when I saw how much I have collected. The base card is SU Ruby Red. The image by SU called All Wrapped Up. I got this set used and I think it is so cute. I just saw that jar and the balls on the paper and thought of a marble jar. So those are marbles in my mind. Then I thought of a story we just read in school and I wanted the frog in the jar with the marbles, making it a fun boy card. So what do you think?
I stamped the frog and the jar on white card stock and used Copic markers to color them. His eye is a Hero Arts gem. Last, I added a few stitch lines with a Gelly Roll Stardust pen. The inside has some more of the paper and a marble bouncing across the card.
Other challenges this card works for:
Pile it on: Animal Riffic
Charisma Cardz Challenges: Spring

Flights of Fancy at SSDS

This week our challenge at Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturday is called Flights of Fancy. You are to use something with wings. This week our fantastic sponsor is 1-2-3-Stitch. You should see all the wonderful craft items over there. They have everything for stamping to needle work. The prize this week is the stamp set I used for this card called Hello Hummingbird by Inkadinkado from 1-2-3-Stitch. I colored the hummingbird, the flower and the sentiment with copic markers. Then I cleared embossed the hummingbird to bring our the colors. I used the SU oval punch and scallop punch for the flower and the sentiment. The paper is from Glitz Design a new line to me and I love it. The white flower and the black butterfly are on the paper. The black base card is cut using the Wild Card Cricut Cartridge. The black card stock is from SU. I used a white gel pen to add stitching lines around the edge of the pink, and for the doodles dots on the outside looped edges. For the inside I cut a white circle then adding some rub ons from Glitz Design that match the paper. Last but not least I tied a ribbon on the top. I have made other cards with this card base and I wasn't happy with the way they turned out but I am really happy with this card.

The sketch for this card is OCC Sketch Challenge OCCSC9

I hope you will join us over at Stamp, Scrap & Doodle this week.

Color Throwdown #86, OCCSC9 and Stampin Up

Oh my I had fun making this card. I order a bunch of stuff from SU and this card is a result of that order. The colors are for Color Throwdown Challenge #86 and the sketch is from OCCSC9. The stamp set is Vintage Vogue and the background is Very Vintage Stampin Around. I LOVE this set. The flower was made by stamping and cutting out four flowers with Garden Green ink on YoYo Yellow. I layered them and put a K&C Jewel Brad in the middle. It is so cool in real life. The base card is Garden Green, and Yoyo Yellow cut with a Cricut Wild Card cartridge. I used Soft Suede ink to do the "F" and the background with the Very Vintage wheel. The ribbon is something I had. I am really starting to like the Wild Card cartridge. It helps to have great colors and background stamps. I think I could make this same card in many different colors. What do you think.?
